FAQ
Most frequently asked questions and answers about Collecto: how it works, fractional ownership, fees, taxation and more.
How does the platform work?
You collect, we handle everything! Collecto manages the entire process from asset selection to potential sale:
- Research: we work in partnership with the best suppliers to source our assets, guaranteeing the highest quality and access to the best market prices.
- Certification: our team of experts certifies the authenticity, value and condition of selected assets.
- Fractional ownership: the asset is uploaded to the platform and its ownership divided into a defined number of individually purchasable shares. The process is made transparent and traceable through blockchain technology.
- Purchase: individual shares are available to purchase on the platform. You become a co-owner of the asset.
- Portfolio: once purchased, you receive a certificate of ownership as a token, visible in your user portfolio directly within the app.
- Storage: storage and insurance of purchased assets is entirely managed by Collecto in secure vaults that guarantee maximum safety and protection from deterioration.
How do I buy a share of an asset?
It is very simple! Buying one or more shares happens entirely within our app:
- Registration: access the platform and enter your personal details.
- Choose your asset: once registered, view all assets for sale and select the one(s) of interest.
- Payment: to proceed, choose your preferred payment method such as credit card or PayPal.
- Portfolio: the purchased share will be visible in the app under the “Portfolio” section.
What assets are available on the platform?
Only the best: assets are carefully selected by our experts, who evaluate uniqueness, scarcity and potential for value growth. We currently cover:
- Prestige watches — iconic models chosen for history, design and collectible value.
- Works of art — paintings, sculptures and multiples by established or emerging artists.
- Fine wines — rare, selected vintages from the most prestigious wineries.
- Rare spirits — whisky, rum and other premium spirits with unique characteristics.
- Luxury bags — iconic and limited-edition pieces from the most exclusive brands.

All assets are authenticated, certified and carefully stored.
How are assets selected?
Every acquisition decision is based on criteria such as rarity, originality, value, brand importance and other technical factors. We purchase items that, in addition to being fully authentic, meet at least one of:
- Opportunity: purchase at the best market prices thanks to our partner network and AI support.
- Scarcity: items produced in limited quantities, accessible only to a small number of selected individuals.
- Uniqueness: one-of-a-kind items for which copies may exist but only one original. These criteria allow us to support the value of assets over time.
How can I liquidate my shares?
You can liquidate your shares through two main methods:
- Sale on the internal Marketplace: after 7 working days from the sale of all shares in the “New Items” section, you can list your share on our Marketplace. You set the sale price and the transaction only occurs if another user is interested.
- Final asset sale: Collecto sells the asset through professional channels and automatically distributes the proceeds to co-owners based on their shares held.
The final sale can happen in two ways:
- Early liquidation: the offer must exceed the purchase price plus: +6.5% in the first 180 days, +10% from 181–365 days, +15% from 366–540 days, +20% beyond 540 days.
- Liquidation at expiry: if no early offers are received, the asset is sold at the expiry date via professional channels.
- Open-ended liquidation: from the moment the asset is uploaded, it is listed on our sales channels. We estimate resale within 6 to 18 months depending on market conditions.
This way, you always have the option to choose the settlement strategy that best suits your needs.
Can I sell my share before the asset is liquidated?
Yes, you can sell your share before the asset is liquidated directly to other Collecto users through our internal Marketplace.
After 7 working days from the sale of all shares in the “New Items” section, you can list your share for sale on the Marketplace with a few taps from the Portfolio section of the app.
The Marketplace is where users can buy and sell shares in complete security. The sale only happens if another user is interested at the price you have set.
If you decide not to sell on the Marketplace, you can wait for the asset liquidation: Collecto will handle the sale through professional channels, automatically distributing the proceeds to co-owners.
What are the fees on Collecto?
On Collecto we apply two fees:
- Purchase fee: 2.5% on the price of the purchased share.
- Withdrawal fee: 2% on proceeds withdrawn at the time of liquidation.
If you choose to reinvest your proceeds within the platform (for example by purchasing new shares), no withdrawal fee is applied.
How does taxation work?
From a tax perspective, the buying and selling of assets by private users is not subject to capital gains tax, in line with what applies to the sale of second-hand goods.
However, we recommend consulting your accountant for any clarifications or specific cases.
To help you with tax management, a downloadable PDF with all data relating to purchases and sales made on Collecto is available in the “Collection” area of the app.
How does the "Invite a friend" feature work?
The “Invite a friend” feature is reserved for premium customers who have purchased shares worth €750 or more.
If you qualify, you will find your invitation code in the dedicated section of your profile in the app.
By sharing the code, you will receive a €30 bonus to use in the New Items section as soon as your friend purchases shares worth at least €80 (bonuses excluded). Your friend will receive a €15 gift voucher to use on their first purchase.
How does liquidity management work?
On Collecto you can accumulate liquidity through promotional cashback or through the sale of shares.
- Available liquidity: receive cashback through the promotions we send daily. Visible in Collection > Collection > Available liquidity.
- Withdrawable liquidity: if your share is liquidated, the proceeds are visible in Collection > Sold > Withdrawable liquidity. You can withdraw it or use it to purchase new shares.
Use of Available liquidity varies by collection value:
- – If your collection exceeds €2.000, you can use liquidity both in “New Items” and on the Marketplace.
- – If your collection is €2.000 or less, liquidity can only be used on the Marketplace.
